Just the Two of Us Wedding in the Lakes

How to plan a wedding for two

Planning a wedding for two is a unique opportunity to create a deeply personal wedding experience. By focusing on what truly matters, you can design a day that perfectly reflects you as a couple. You may choose an elopement wedding for a whole host of reasons, but the goal is the same… to embrace the freedom and joy of celebrating your love in a way that is completely your own.

One advantage of a two-person wedding is the freedom to choose any location. The Lakes may be somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit, or a place holding sentimental value and happy memories. Millions of couples visit the Lake District for the breathtaking scenery, peace, and tranquility, making it a sought-after destination wedding location. The continued popularity of adventure or outdoor elopement ceremonies makes Cote How perfect for nature enthusiasts, with direct access to some of the most iconic scenery in the world.

Just the two of us

When you hear “just the two of us” you instinctively hum the Bill Withers song, but it’s a phrase we hear almost daily in our enquiries. Elopement weddings have come a long way from the days when it meant running away under the cover of darkness! There are many reasons eloping is appealing: less stress, less cost, and less drama to name three! A wedding for two appeals to eco-conscious couples, and nature lovers – it’s far easier to arrange a wedding when only two need travel plans and accommodation, and it’s kinder to the planet too.  For couples who don’t enjoy the limelight, it’s simply more relaxing and enjoyable when you’re not the centre of attention.

Eloping can be a flexible option too. If ‘just the two of you’ needs to stretch to include young children, or even a four-legged friend, we can make that happen. It can be hard to plan a secret elope if you need to ask friends and family to take care of dependents while you are away.

Tear up the rule book

Many of our eloping couples keep their wedding secret from family and friends until it’s official, avoiding pre-wedding upset, Although family and friends are well-intentioned, their opinions can sway you! Others are excited to share their plans beforehand (and friends often comment they wish they’d eloped too!) There’s no right or wrong time to tell friends and family – doing what feels right for you is ultimately the most important thing. Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with loved ones later. This can be a low-key get-together to share photos and relive the memories of your special day, or a full-on knees-up in your wedding gear – it’s really up to you and will depend on your circumstances.

Uniquely yours

Eloping shouldn’t mean compromise. The day is about your love and commitment to each other. With fewer logistics and people to manage, you can focus entirely on each other. Take the time to savour every moment, from getting ready to exchanging vows and celebrating afterwards. Even though it’s a small wedding you deserve to feel special. Writing personal vows, wearing the dress of your dreams, or escaping to the mountains for incredible wedding portraits… how you choose to make it memorable is up to you. Everyone’s idea of  ‘perfect’ is unique – whether a Michelin-starred dinner or a picnic blanket by the lake, the Lakes has something for everyone seeking a post-elopement celebration for two!
