2022 - LIFE IN A SMALL LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING VENUE
2022 has begun with a bang! We have spent the Winter months giving the whole wedding venue a facelift, ready for a new season. The Woodrow room has been completely transformed downstairs, and we are excited about adding our new”Getting Ready Room” upstairs. We are still looking for the proper terminology for naming this room! More on the renovation in next week’s blog…

WE Say goodbye to Sophie
Sophie has been my Angel these last couple of years, and we are so sad to see her go, but new and exciting pastures lay ahead for Sophie. We will miss her greatly, as many of you lovely couples will.
Sophie has been a valued member of our small wedding venue team since joining us in July 2020 and has taught us as much as we have taught her. Together, we have had some great times and bonded for life.
But rest assured, your wedding planning journey will not end with Sophie, as she has been passing on all of her skills and knowledge to our new Wedding Operations Manager Rebecca, who we will introduce below.
We wish Sophie the very best of luck in her new life ventures and leave you with a few words from Sophie herself.
in SOPHIE's words...
Working at Cote How has been fantastic, and I will be forever thankful for the opportunity that Caroline and Steve gave me. I have loved my time here and learnt so much. My confidence has grown, and I have loved my role and the responsibilities I have been given. It almost feels like a second home with the number of couples who assume I’m part of the family and live here myself. Imagine waking up to that view every day! As you can imagine, Caroline and Steve are fab bosses and wonderful people who took me under their wing as more than ‘just an employee. I am going to live in South Manchester with my boyfriend, Scott. Manchester will be a significant change to the Lakes, but I am excited!
I am sad to be missing lots of the small intimate weddings I have been a part of planning alongside all our lovely couples. Watching your wedding day come to life is a beautiful part of the job. I cant wait to see all the stunning pictures on Cote How’s Instagram pages. Alongside Caroline and Steve, your wedding is in great hands from start to finish.

the wedding venue team are here ready to welcome you

Not forgetting Steve - Of course...
I know that some of you think Steve is imaginary… but he works equally hard (usually behind the scenes) and he has worked incredibly hard these past few months with all the renovating jobs I have been forcing upon him!
I will leave Steve to explain what he has been up to this winter…

in Steves words...
Christmas seems a long time ago, a blur of changes, upgrades and general readiness ahead of the new season. In reality, our season never stopped, and we’ve rolled from the 21 seasons straight into the 22 seasons with hardly a pause in between. Caroline has done her best to keep the cardboard recycling plant going over the last few months, and the amazon driver is now considered an integral part of the team. I’ve done a lot of unboxing for myself and am considering a new career as an Ikea consultant due to my excellent skills in attaching legs and assembling furniture. Since Christmas, we’ve redecorated four rooms in the house. I’ve made new panelling for the house bar, changed lights, removed a sink, hung very heavy mirrors, repainted the barn bar and dismantled what used to be a greenhouse until storm Arwen had its way. On the subject of storm Arwen, I’ve chopped up four fallen trees (one was an ornamental cherry – big sob), and we had four sections of roof replaced. The garden has had a bit of a hiatus over the last few months. It’s in my sights once again and will be getting an excellent scarifying, trim and tidy in the next few days.
Looking ahead...
We have exciting and sad times as we head into the new season. On a sad note, Sophie, who has been the goddess of the organisation over the last two years, will leave us shortly for new and exciting challenges outside the county. We wish her well and would like to publicly thank her for all her hard work during an extremely challenging two years.

Goodbye Bess...
I know that many of you may not be aware, but we lost our beloved Bessis Boo in February after a long battle with cancer.
Many of you may not have met her, as the dogs were usually kept behind closed doors, but often tried to escape as they are just socialites!
Bess leaves us with heaviness in our hearts and her brother Alfie who seems lost without her too. She was a huge part of our family.
