A SMALL BARN WEDDING
in the Stunning Lake District

By CAROLINE
The perfect Lake District small Barn WeddIng
Laura and Aaron are a delightful, very genuine couple. From the moment they stepped through the door, it was clear they loved Cote How. Right away, they felt that Cote How was the perfect venue for their small barn wedding.
The Lake District is close to their heart as they spend quality time here together on holiday. After getting engaged in Croatia, they were excited to start planning, and our house and barn matched their vision for a relaxed, family wedding day.

RUSTIC BARN WEDDING DECORATION
Once guests had arrived, we served cocktails out on the terrace in the sunshine. We set out fresh flowers in dainty jars, scattered around the venue to bring colour and scent into the wedding barn. Laura — with her bridesmaids and parents — arrived half an hour before the ceremony. Moments later, she slipped into the house out of sight, thereby avoiding the groom before the aisle moment!

BEAUTIFUL Outdoor barn CEREMONY
The barn terrace seating is arranged in an informal arc with the ceremony table in the doorway beneath a canopy of cherry blossoms. Laura walked down the aisle following her bridesmaids. Her Dad gave her away as she arrived at Aaron’s side, which is always an emotional moment.

Afterwards, Peter, their photographer, lined up the confetti, and everyone gathered for family portraits. Then it was time for canapés and fizz on the terrace. Meanwhile, Laura and Aaron stole away together to Rydal Water for a little private time.
PERFECT MOMENTS BY RYDAL WATER
The Rydal Water oak tree is featured in many wedding photographs; however, it looks different every time! Moreover, the views across the lake to the distant mountains are stunning, with shafts of sunlight in the woodland. Nab Scar is a breathtaking backdrop to an outdoor barn ceremony.

The Wedding Barn Reception
We lay out the barn in a ‘square polo’ plan because it suits intimate wedding breakfasts so well. Everyone chats to each other and can see the bride and groom as guests of honour.
The table is dressed with ivy, candles, fairy lights and fresh flowers, in addition to Laura and Aaron’s beautiful place cards.

Looking out through the open barn doors across the dinner table, the romantic ambiance is perfect for subtle first dance . Laura and Aaron’s best man arranged a fabulous game of ‘Mr & Mrs’, much to the delight of their guests!

There’s nothing better than hearing the barn full of laughter and joy on a wedding day… so much love from family and friends, and many special memories made.

As the afternoon turned to dusk, Laura and Aaron found the perfect spot in the paddock at Cote How. Early evening brings the ‘golden hour’ when the light creates beautifully romantic wedding portraits. An unforgettable moment to end a perfect small barn wedding.
