Meet Our Wonderful Wedding Competition Winners

a romantic outdoor ceremony & family celebration

marissa & Dan - our first ever wedding competition winners!

In May 2024, we announced our first-ever wedding competition to win a wedding at Cote How! It was such an exciting time, and we were overwhelmed by the number of entries. The anticipation continued until the first week of June when our computer randomly selected the winning couple… Marissa and Dan!

making dreams come true

Marissa and Dan fell in love with Cote How when they first began looking for wedding venues and although the timing wasn’t quite right, marrying at Cote How remained their dream. However, the universe must have had a plan, as much to their surprise their names were announced as our wedding competition winners! That long-held dream was about to come true…

let the wedding planning begin...

Marrissa and Dan knew they wanted a small, intimate celebration, even before entering the wedding competition and decided October was the perfect month for their special day. Marissa had her heart set on out marrying outside the barn, in a relaxed, intimate, and personal ceremony. It wasn’t long before we welcomed them to Cote How for their first planning meeting, and as we stood in the sunshine on the barn terrace it felt like it was meant to be!

It's all in the detail

The summer flew by, and we kept in touch, chatting over email about the little details that make a wedding day uniquely yours. Winning the wedding competition gave Marissa and Dan the freedom to create a bespoke celebration to reflect their own personal style. Marissa chose dusky lavender and sage green for her flowers and a white chocolate and raspberry wedding cake.

The morning of the 10th of October dawned bright and sunny. Marissa and her Mum arrived to get ready in our beauty suite with Lucy, their stylist. It was our first glimpse of Marrisa’s exquisite dress. She wore a full-length, embroidered gown with organza sleeves in a beautiful colour reminiscent of antique tea rose and champagne. Marissa created a bespoke design for her gown with dozens of tiny pearls, complimenting her delicate tiara. Her love of 1920’s elegance and art-deco style brought together her beautifully curated vision for the day.

Dan chose a classic brown tweed suit, perfect for a country wedding, and the guests came dressed in autumnal shades for a subtle, harmonious theme.

Since winning the wedding competiton, Marissa and Dan had given much thought to what was best for Otto, their beloved Sheltie. As soon as we put them in touch with Dapper Dogs they knew they’d found a wonderful chaperone. Nigel arrived with Otto for photographs in the meadow after the ceremony. He’d had a fabulous morning adventuring with Nigel, and Dan and Marissa felt so much more relaxed knowing Otto was in safe hands. Their stunning wedding portraits captured the beautiful light across Rydal Water, and golden hour in the grounds at Cote How.

We served tea and wedding cake in our lovely vintage china (is there any other way?) and everyone cosied up in front of the fire. Marissa and Dan gave thoughtful gifts and posies of their wedding flowers to thank their family for their love and support.

A Spectacular End To A Special Day

All too soon, it was time to say goodbye. Marissa and Dan’s wedding day was special, not just as our wedding competition winners, but as a joyful, meaningful celebration of their story together so far.

That evening, as the northern lights lit up the sky above Cote How it certainly felt like a love story written in the stars.
