Magical Outdoor Elopement
IN THE AUTUMNAL LAKES
A perfect day - just for two
Emilie and Josh’s wonderful outdoor elopement was exactly how they imagined their wedding day would be. It’s also a great way to understand more about how an elopement wedding works if you are thinking of a Lakes autumn escape. Let’s open our wedding diary and take a look…

Outdoor Autumn Elopement
Emilie and Josh had been together for over 11 years. When you have been a couple for a long time, friends and family often ask when it will be your turn to tie the knot! However, a lavish wedding with a huge guest list is not for everyone. A big wedding can be a stressful and expensive journey. Eloping is the perfect solution when you prefer a more private, relaxed, and intimate wedding, like Emilie and Josh.

Embrace the great outdoors
The couple arrived in their car, preferring to drive from their local hotel. Emilie came ready aside from her wedding dress. Josh enjoyed a relaxing welcome drink while Emilie got changed out of sight to keep the element of surprise. Their photographer captured a romantic ‘first look’ outside the porch, before their interview with the Registrars. Once ready, they chose to walk together down to the barn terrace for their wedding ceremony. It was a typical Lake District autumn day. One minute the heavens opened and the next the sun was shining. Emilie and Josh loved the rustic feel of the barn terrace and miraculously the weather held until the end of the ceremony. It was beautiful, standing in the barn doorway in the autumn sunshine.

Perfect wedding portrait weather
After warm congratulations (we may be small in number but we make up for it in enthusiasm) Emile and Josh celebrated with a glass of fizz. The rain showers certainly didn’t dampen any spirits! The rain clouds create beautifully dramatic wedding photos; according to folklore, rain on your wedding day is lucky. Emilie and Josh set off with their photographer to Rydal Caves, a perfect location for a stunning outdoor elopement photo shoot.

true lake loving adventurers
Emilie and Josh embraced every moment of their outdoor wedding day, and Emilie wasn’t in the least bit concerned about mixing a wedding dress with splashing in muddy puddles! Despite the temperature, they braved a paddle in the lake for some pictures – now that’s dedication!

Enjoy a Picnic with a view
All that hiking works up quite an appetite! Emilie and Josh settled in the Gazebo to enjoy a proper Cumbrian picnic and watch the light change across the valley. Eloping is about making the most of every precious wedding day moment together before sharing the good news with family and friends.
