Luxury Valentine's Day Wedding

Valentines day wedding for two

It was February 14th – a red-letter day in most people’s calendar, but this one was special. The rain was coming down thick and fast, but the fire was crackling away in the drawing room, keeping us cosy. Kathryn and Chris were our first-ever Valentine’s Day wedding, and so love was in the air even more than usual!

simply beautiful

The joy of elopements is their simplicity, and Kathryn and Chris knew they wanted a simple, stress-free wedding day for two.  Kathryn’s exquisite dress had a sweetheart neckline, embellished with hundreds of tiny pearls. Bought online, it shows how attainable a stunning wedding gown can be. The couple chose an understated bouquet and buttonhole made from the prettiest dried flowers. They make a great keepsake and are perfect for a winter wedding.

an intimate ceremony for two

Kathryn and Chris settled into the armchairs in Woodow and enjoyed a welcome drink in front of the fire. After their interviews, the ceremony took place in Wordsworth.  It was a heartfelt and very personal occasion, especially as Jenna, their photographer, is a close friend. She witnessed the marriage along with our team, making it extra special. The couple’s music choices hold treasured memories and will mean even more to them each Valentine’s Day going forward.

A valentines day first dance

After the ceremony, we arranged a celebratory toast to the happy couple, followed by a romantic first dance in front of the fire. Exclusive use at Cote How makes your wedding experience so private, romantic, and relaxed. Chris and Kathryn then pulled on their walking boots to brave the weather! Luck was on their side, and the rain stopped just as they headed out for their photos at Rydal Caves. Although couples worry about the weather in the Lakes, it all adds to the adventure, and Chris and Kathryn fully embraced it.

stunning lake district scenery

Cote How is in an unrivalled location for wedding photo opportunities. Jenna took Kathryn and Chris along the lake shore of Rydal Water and up to Rydal Caves for dramatic wedding portraits. Nestled at the foot of Loughrigg Fell, Cote How offers a beautiful backdrop, even in the winter season.

a valentines day to remember

It’s always lovely to hear how our elopement couples spend the rest of their wedding day. Kathryn and Chris had a reservation at Low Wood Bay’s smokehouse for an alternative afternoon tea (which we know is delicious!) Afterwards, they spent a luxurious night at the Brimstone in the Langdales. The Lake District has wonderful places to stay and visit, making it the perfect destination for a romantic elopement wedding escape. We can’t think of a better way to marry on Valentine’s Day – doing what you love with the person you love in a place you love.
