are you looking for a wedding with more wow?

“Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures”- Lewis Carroll.

Break free from tradition and let your mind run a little wild… Here is how to plan an amazing Lake District Adventure Wedding.

Today’s blog is all about how to inject a little more of YOU into your Lake District wedding planning. We will explore a few options that will hopefully ignite your passion and leave you feeling super excited about your ‘adventure wedding’.

THE LAKE DISTRICT IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR ROMANTIC DESTINATIONS IN THE UK

As well as one of the busiest holiday destinations in the country, the Lakes is also considered to be one of the most romantic places to stay. Many people grew up with family visits to the Lakes or discovered it later in life with adventure holidays or romantic getaways. Maybe you fell in love with the Lakes then fell in love in the Lakes, many do?

The Lake District is already one of the most popular wedding destinations in the UK. But what brings all you lovely wedding couples to the Lakes each year?
With its stunning scenery, rugged mountains, gentle fells, serene lakes and gushing ghylls, awesome activities, or simply an amazing get away from it all to find some inner peace and tranquillity. There’s certainly plenty here to bring couples from far and wide.

So you are keen outdoor enthusiasts, and already love the Lake District, so wouldn’t it make perfect sense to incorporate the great outdoors and your love of the Lakes into your wedding? Make those shared experiences that brought you to the Lake District now become an integral part of your special day.

With so many outdoor activities to choose from the list is endless, but here are a few that might inspire you…

Do you love walking the fells?

Hiking is the most popular activity in the Lake District. With such a variety of levels, from the low fells to the high tops, amid some of the world’s most stunning scenery, it is no wonder millions flock here every year. Perhaps you are bagging the Wainwrights together?
Maybe you got engaged on your favourite mountain top, or have a favourite view, or picnic spot? Couples tend to form habits and often have firm favourites that drive the decisions on where to get married.
I am constantly amazed at how many couples get engaged here at Rydal, either by Rydal Water, in the Caves or on top of Loughrigg. Descending the lane, they fall upon Cote How as they make their way home. The brochure holder at the gate clicks happily away all day long throughout the year and is like music to our ears. Many times, we have seen couples get engaged close by, grab a leaflet on their way home and then come for a visit shortly after. Some months or occasionally years later, they visit Cote How again, this time to tie the knot and complete the circle – amazing!

Maybe you live for Water Sports?

Some years ago the Lakes became host to the Great North Swim and ever since a growing trend has emerged, along with Paddle Boarding.

Never a day goes by that we don’t see from the windows at Cote How swimmers in the lake – and couples with oversized rucksacks on their backs walking through our meadow to our lakeshores. Maybe one of those couples is you?

Or perhaps a little Rock Climbing?

Then for the more athletic maybe you are into rock climbing, bouldering and ghyll scrambling? The landscapes here are a picturesque blend of gentle hills, rocky outcrops, river, fell and lake and we locally we have it all from the River Rothay, Rydal Water and Grasmere to Loughrigg Fell, Nab Scar and the majestic Fairfield Horseshoe. Maybe you are keen scramblers and always on the lookout for a little challenge? Rydal cave is awesome. A disused quarry that probably yielded the slate to build this house, way back in 1535. The cave sports it’s own little pool, with some fun stepping stones and living fish! It is often the stage for film and TV and hosts a dramatic amphitheatre for concerts too.
