INTIMATE FESTIVE WEDDING
IN THE GORGEOUS LAKES

By SOPHIE DEAN
Have you ever considered having an intimate festive wedding?
Whether you’re planning your wedding for 2021 or just interested to have a nosey and collect some ideas, I think one of the best ways to get inspiration and a sense of what your wedding day could be like is to look at the story of a real-life intimate festive wedding. Winter weddings are definitely not as common as summer weddings. This might be because of the colder temperatures, lashings of rain or glistening snow, but believe me – you can’t always guarantee hot weather in the summer either. So don’t let that be the reason you could miss out on that spectacular intimate festive wedding.

Change of plan- Intimate festive wedding
Today I’m going to talk to you about Laura and Chris’ intimate festive wedding. It was always meant to be intimate but it wasn’t by any means always meant to be festive. The couple first booked back in 2018 after they’d come to look round our magnificent venue. Their wedding date was planned to be in June 2020 but due to ‘you know what’ and all the changes it has made, Laura and Chris rescheduled their wedding to November. Then lockdown 2.0 took place and they rescheduled again to the 14th December (third time lucky!).

The intimate festive wedding plans begin...
Since they were now getting married in the run up to Christmas, they knew that Cote How would be decorated from head to toe with magical Christmas decorations. Laura and Chris definitely weren’t going to let Coronavirus get in the way of them having their dream wedding and most importantly being able to start their married life. They decided to use the change of date to their advantage and they changed their flowers from vintage pastels to festive reds. Laura wore a gorgeous winter shawl as an accessory to her dress, they definitely embraced their last minute change of date.

The big day!
On the day Laura made the journey to Cote How from a local Lake District hotel in a gorgeous classic car and Chris was there to greet her for that first look with photographer Simon Hughes capturing the moment. Here they met with their 13 guests (in family bubbles of course!) for their intimate festive wedding. The wedding schedule was reorganised after the date change to make the most of the winter sunshine for the wedding photos. On arrival Laura and Chris and their intimate set of guests enjoyed the canapes before the ceremony in order to have time after the ceremony for photographs in the daylight, this just shows that whatever the situation there is always a way to make it work.
Get the feeling of- "we did it"!
The ceremony happened in the Fairfield ceremony room. All the guests were sat in their family bubbles, this is very subtle and you barely even notice. It really was a lovely, intimate festive wedding ceremony! Laura and Chris chose to have ‘Incredible’ by Gary Barlow as their exit song to go out with a bang. I don’t know if you can hear that song playing in your head but it was perfect for the occasion giving everyone a sense of ‘we did it’!

Prepared for all weather
After the ceremony the newly weds strolled down the short footpath, prepared for all weather with boots and umbrella, to the lake with Simon Hughes for some photographs together as Mr and Mrs.

What is cosier than a roaring fire at your intimate festive wedding
They returned to Cote How where the fire was roaring, and everyone was enjoying a drink. The wedding party then made their way through the house and into the FAIRFIELD room again, which had now been transformed from their ceremony room into their intimate candlelit elegant reception, akin to the Ritz, you might say – Oversized gilt mirrors, crystal chandeliers and twinkling candles, where they enjoyed their cosy wedding breakfast.

So there you have it
A wonderful example of just how fantastic an intimate festive wedding can be during the winter months. Maybe reading this makes you want to have a winter wedding yourself and maybe Cote How would be the perfect venue for you!
