it was all a secret until they said "i do"

Deciding when to marry is such a momentous decision with so many individual factors to consider. Some couples haven’t been together for very long before deciding the time is right to marry whereas others may have been together for 20 years and engaged for 10. This blog post shares a Rustic Afternoon Wedding here at Cote How with a lovely wedding couple who have been together for a long time. Leigha and Ben decided it was time to tie the knot and chose Cote How in the beautiful Lake District for their venue. The area had many happy memories and sentimental value attached. The family arranged to come to the Lakes for a short break, with the wedding falling in the middle. Leigha and Ben chose a very intimate wedding with only their parents and their two little boys. The wedding was kept under wraps from all extended family and friends so that Leigha and Ben could surprise them with the news once they had said “I do”.

Relaxed and Intimate- Rustic Afternoon Wedding

Leigha and Ben opted for a Rustic Afternoon Wedding with continental sharing platters. This is a lovely option when people want to extend their time at Cote How but don’t want to have the formalities of a 3-course meal. On the day the weather was beautiful, perfect for sitting out on the terrace enjoying the view with a glass of prosecco in hand.

What a view walking down to your aisle

The family arrived through the lakeside entrance. Leigha arrived separately so that she and Ben would see each other all dressed up for the first time as they walked down the aisle. Leigha wore a stunning dress and their two little boys dressed in their best clothes; the first challenge was making sure their outfits were not ruined before the ceremony! The couple chose to make their vows outside the barn surrounded by the hills and bird song, perfect for a rustic afternoon wedding.

After all the formalities were over and they were officially Mr & Mrs, the couple put on their walking boots and had a walk around Cote How just the two of them and their photographer. There are many great spots around Cote How for photos depending on how much time you have, the 2-minute walk to Rydal Water is one of the best views of them all.

The family made the most of the sun

Meanwhile the boys spent some time playing in Rydal Water enjoying the warm weather and getting rid of some energy whilst the rest of the family sat on the terrace enjoying the sun. Leigha and Ben then met the boys on their walk back to Cote How to get some family photos by the water.

Sharing Platters anyone?

When it was time for the sharing platters, the family made their way to the barn. They decided that they would sit inside the barn with the doors open to get a bit of shade from the sun. The sharing platters offer a casual bite to eat which can be enjoyed using the garden furniture either in the gazebo, outside or inside the barn. The continental platters that Leigha and Ben chose included a selection of cold meats and cheeses with homemade focaccia bread, crackers, olives, toasted nuts & seeds, homemade red onion chutney and a baby leaf salad.

The celebrations didn't stop there

Following their intimate celebration, it was time to reveal the big secret to their close friends and family. Leigha and Ben Facetimed their nearest and dearest from the barn in their dress and suit to tell them the exciting news. When their rustic Rydal afternoon wedding came to an end the wedding party walked back through the lakeside entrance to continue their celebrations.
