Rustic Afternoon Wedding in the Scenic Lake District

Rustic afternoon wedding

IN THE Scenic LAKE DISTRICT

By SOPHIE DEAN

it was all a secret until they said "i do"

Deciding when to marry is a momentous decision with many individual factors to consider. Some couples haven’t been together for very long before choosing the right time to marry, whereas others may have been together for 20 or more years. This blog post shares a Rustic Afternoon Wedding here at Cote How with a lovely wedding couple who have been together for a long time. Leigha and Ben decided it was time to tie the knot and chose Cote How in the beautiful Lake District for their venue. The area had many happy memories and sentimental value attached. The family arranged to come to the Lakes for a short break, with the wedding falling in the middle. Leigha and Ben chose a very intimate wedding with only their parents and two little boys. The wedding was kept under wraps from all extended family and friends so that Leigha and Ben could surprise them with the news once they had said: “I do”.

Relaxed and Intimate- Rustic Afternoon Wedding

On the day, the weather was beautiful, perfect for sitting out on the terrace and enjoying the view with a glass of prosecco in hand. Leigha and Ben opted for a Rustic Afternoon Wedding with continental sharing platters. The perfect option as they wanted to extend their time at Cote How but without the formalities of a 3-course meal.

What a view walking down to your aisle

The family arrived through the lakeside entrance. Leigha came separately so that she and Ben would see each other all dressed up for the first time as they walked down the aisle. Leigha wore a stunning dress, and their two little boys looked adorable in their suits.  The couple made their vows outside the barn, surrounded by the hills and bird song in the background. The perfect rustic afternoon setting.

After all the formalities were over, and they were officially Mr & Mrs, the couple put on their walking boots and had a wander around Cote How. There are many great spots around Cote How for photos. The options are endless! We are also just a 2-minute walk to Rydal Water, with some of the best views of the Lakes.

The family made the most of the sun

The boys enjoyed burning off some energy playing in Rydal Water whilst the rest of the family sat on the terrace enjoying the sun. Leigha and Ben then met the boys on their walk back to Cote How to get some family photos by the water.

Sharing Platters anyone?

The family made their way to the barn when it was time for the sharing platters. They decided to sit inside the barn with the doors open to get a bit of shade from the sun. The sharing platters offer a casual bite to eat which can be enjoyed using the garden furniture in the gazebo, outside or inside the barn. Leigha and Ben’s continental platters included a selection of cold meats and cheeses with homemade focaccia bread. Along with crackers, olives, toasted nuts & seeds, homemade red onion chutney and a baby leaf salad.

The celebrations didn't stop there

Following their intimate celebration, it was time to reveal the big secret to their close friends and family. Leigha and Ben Facetimed their nearest and dearest from the barn in their dress and suit to tell them the exciting news. When their rustic Rydal afternoon wedding came to an end the wedding party walked back through the lakeside entrance to continue their celebrations.
