daylight hours and april showers

After months of getting up and leaving work in the dark, now January is behind us the extra minutes of daylight at the start and end of every day are a welcome relief! Come Spring, longer and warmer days make us feel re-energised and there’s no better feeling than shedding our winter coats. Mother Nature bursts into life with the warmth of Spring sunshine and gentle showers of rain, and we sense the excitement of new beginnings. This rebirth is truly inspiring and reminds us of the beauty and resilience of nature. As your love too continues to grow, what better season to start your wedding journey?

Blooming lovely!

The Lake District is spectacular all year round, but Spring is such a joyous season! Migrating birds are returning for the season, newborn lambs frolic in the fields and red squirrels dart through the woodlands. The fells are alive with birdsong, and the meadows are a hive of activity. Spring flowers bring a riot of colour to gardens, riverbanks, and trees – and there’s nothing more gorgeous than a Spring wedding bouquet! In the language of flowers, our long-awaited cherry blossoms are associated with love and romance, and springtime wedding portraits beneath cherry boughs in bloom are simply stunning. For those seeking a place of natural beauty as a backdrop to their wedding portraits, the Lake District in the springtime is hard to beat!

enjoy the highs of the low season

Late May through to September are traditionally the most sought-after wedding dates, and April and early May are too often overlooked. April marks the beginning of spring in the Lakes and brings a spectacular display; daffodils, cherry blossoms, rhododendrons, and bluebells carpet the landscape creating a breathtaking sight. April and early May fall outside the peak tourist season, meaning you’ll encounter fewer crowds compared to the summer months. Enjoy a more relaxed visit, with greater availability and affordability when looking for accommodation, especially if you avoid the Easter holidays. If you are feeling spontaneous in springtime, venues are more likely to have dates available before the summer season starts, so it could be the perfect opportunity to plan a wedding without having to wait too long until the big day… and it’s not too late for 2024!

If you’re feeling inspired, then perhaps it’s time to sow new seeds of love, put down new roots, and embark on the adventure of marriage in a Lake District springtime escape.
