MEET DAN, OUR NEWEST MEMBER OF THE WEDDING TEAM

By DAN STEARNE
WEDDING TEAM, MEET DAN.
It’s about time I wrote my first blog! My name is Dan; I’m 19. I’m currently studying chartered management with the University of Cumbria while working with the wedding team at Cote How, or an apprenticeship in technical terms! I also own a small business, Dan’s Plants, a small plant nursery growing and supplying excellent quality plants. So, I will be using my plant knowledge and experience to grow some of the fantastic flowers you will find in the gardens at Cote How. Anyway, here is my first blog about my journey to becoming part of the wedding team at Cote How.

How it came about...
After completing my A-Levels last year, I decided to stay at home in the Lakes and study while I worked instead of studying marketing in Leeds. I started the apprenticeship while working in procurement at a farm shop; after some time, I decided I wanted to work somewhere more rewarding while studying for my degree. Over Christmas, I was introduced to Caroline and Steve and fell in love with the venue and grounds. After making the big decision to join the wedding team, I was nervous about starting my new role. Luckily everyone was so welcoming and comforting, and after a couple of weeks, I settled right in and attended my first wedding!

MY FIRST MONTH AT COTE HOW
My first week, now a month, has been a blur as part of the wedding team. When people ask me what that means, I say; basically, I do everything except marrying our couples! And that’s so true; there is so much work behind the scenes I’m always busy. Getting to grips with a new computer system has been tricky, but I think I’ve finally got the hang of it! Just! If in doubt, Caroline’s on hand to step in!

MY FIRST EVER WEDDING!
Rewind to Valentine’s Day when the fabulous Kathryn and Chris were getting married; not only was this my first wedding since starting my new role, but the first wedding I’ve ever been too! At first, I was very nervous, especially as I was sitting in on their ceremony. But soon, I got to grips with how the wedding day flowed, and by the end of it, I felt very confident about my next one. A couple of weddings in, with support from the wedding team, it’s now my favourite part of the job. I love and feel so lucky to share such a special day with such amazing people.

WHATS TO COME
I am very excited to keep learning and get to grips with everything so I can be the best I can on such a special day. Luckily, I’ve started during the quiet season so I can learn everything before the busy summer season which is almost here! In the meantime, I will keep you updated with blogs and pictures on my journey as part of the wedding team at Cote How.

if you have enjoyed reading this post, thank you. Please give it a share and add a comment, I would love to hear from you.
