More recently many have had their wedding plans thwarted and now are looking to take back a little control and just get married.

Enter a New Dawn of exciting Lake District adventure elopements
1) Seek out the perfect wedding venue. This will have to be able to provide that all-important legal ceremony… Or why bother, hey?
2) Your perfect venue has to to offer you privacy to intensify the romance of your wedding ceremony. Make sure you get fully exclusive use, and no other weddings going on in the background. That would burst your bubble!

4) Keep it fun, quirky and be prepared to be a little different – don’t forget your boots!

Let's do it...
This blog is all about how to have a fun Lake District adventure elopement for just the two of you. All the images are from a recent styled shoot and feature photographs by two ace wedding photographers Jenna carpenter and Jo Greenfield. Full credits are at the bottom of the page.

Getting Ready...
We started out with those getting ready shots in the barn with our gorgeous couple Ali and Dionne with hair and makeup by Amy Brown of Kendal.
We feature a few local treats, which are ideal for wedding favours and are all hand made locally.

The Grounds...
We then head out into the grounds of Cote How for a few shots of the house, barn and paddock.

Then the adventure begins
Be prepared for lots of fun, incredible views and lots of water!
Having Rydal Water in the back garden is a massive bonus for us, and the panorama is impressive at any time of year, day or night, summer or winter!

In Love - In The Lakes
Some of my favourite shots are in the flower meadow adjacent to Cote How, and I love the Lakeland dry stone walls and ferns. Rydal woods is fantastic and offers a great variety of scenes with stunning dappled light bursting through the ancient oaks. These woods are amassed with bluebells in May too, making a fantastic backdrop, and smells divine too!

Down to the Lake My Dear...
Now down to the lake shores of Rydal water where the wildlife cannot help but make an appearance. Here proud mummy duck is teaching her little ducklings to swim!
Where can you actually dip your toes in those stunning lakes? I love these fantastic photos paddling in the water and just having fun, isn’t that what having a Lake District adventure elopement is all about!

The Finale...
Towards the end of the shoot Jo took our couple for a little stroll up to Rydal Cave. This is a trendy destination and is often used as a backdrop for the more dramatic photos. It has a pool with the stepping stones through it, and the rock faces are a myriad of unique and unusual colours. Ancient mining scars from long ago. In fact, Cote How was probably built from this cave stone.
Standing inside the cave looking out is a beautiful vista featuring the gorgeous feathery Larch trees, the pool and stepping stones set within the fantastic wide-mouthed and toothed cave.

Location, Location, Location...
Cote How is situated in a fantastic position so here you can have your licenced ceremony in five different locations with outdoor licenced spaces too. You can officially tie the knot with the registrars here, then head out with your photographer to have some real fun in and around the local area.
This photoshoot is all within 20 minutes walk from our door and is a trek worth doing. So pack your walking boots and prepare to be amazed.

Ever fancied Trashing the Dress?
Here you can do it all in the same day and harness this new tradition by getting down and dirty in the lake.
Great fun and a very non-traditional way of celebrating your marriage!
