Love in the Lakes: A Stunning Lake District Adventure Elopement
A Lake District Adventure Elopement in a Stunning Location
Whatever your reasons to elope, there is an upsurge in elopement weddings across the UK, with couples seeking Lake District adventure elopements.
Elopements are very popular in the Lakes; therefore, Cote How offers unique experiences for a wide range of couples, and for many different reasons. For some, it’s an effortless way to get married, in an unconventional, carefree manner. On the other hand, it is a convenient, straightforward approach that sets them free from family obligations.

Time for Adventure!
If you adore the outdoors, love the Lakes, and are looking for something a little bit different, then a Lake District adventure elopement may be just the thing for you! You can find out more about our elopement wedding packages here…

Exciting Lake District adventure elopements
1) Firstly, seek out the perfect wedding venue to provide that all-important legal ceremony
2) Next, your perfect venue should offer you privacy to intensify the romance of your wedding ceremony. Check you have exclusive use, with no other weddings, because this will burst your bubble!
3) After that, find a venue with a fantastic backdrop in a great outdoor location, where you can wander with your photographer and capture amazing shots in a beautiful place.
4) Finally, keep it fun, quirky and be prepared to be a little different – plus don’t forget your boots!

Let's do it...
This blog is all about planning a fun Lake District adventure elopement for just the two of you. All the images are from a recent styled shoot and feature photographs by two ace wedding photographers, Jenna Carpenter and Jo Greenfield. Full credits are at the bottom of the page.
Getting Ready...
First, we began with ‘getting ready’ shots in the barn with our gorgeous couple, Ali and Dionne, and hair and makeup stylist Amy Brown of Kendal.
We feature a few sustainable treats, ideal for wedding favours, all handmade locally.

The Grounds...
Next, we headed out into the grounds of Cote How for portraits of the house, barn, and paddock.

Go Wild!
Be prepared for fun, incredible views and LOTS of water!
Having Rydal Water in the back garden is a huge bonus for us, and the panorama is impressive at any time of year, day or night, summer or winter!

In Love - In The Lakes
Some of my favourite shots are in the flower meadow beyond our gate, and I love the Lakeland dry stone walls and ferns. Rydal Woods are beautiful with stunning dappled light bursting through the ancient oaks. These woods are carpeted with bluebells in May too, with a divine scent.
Where The Wild things Are...
Along the lake shores of Rydal water the wildlife can’t help but make an appearance. This proud mummy duck is teaching her little ducklings to swim!
Where else on your wedding day can you dip your toes in such a beautiful lake? I love these fantastic photos of our wedding couple paddling in the water and just having fun. It’s what a Lake District adventure elopement is all about!

The Finale...
Finally, Jo took our couple to Rydal Cave. This sought-after destination is often used as a backdrop for dramatic wedding photos. It has a pool with the stepping stones, and the rock faces are a myriad of unique and unusual colours, bearing ancient mining scars from long ago. In fact, Cote How was probably built from stone mined from these caves.
Also, standing inside the cave looking out, there’s a beautiful panoramic vista that takes your breath away.

Location, Location, Location...
Your wedding ceremony takes place in different locations at Cote How, both inside the house and outside the barn. Once you officially tie the knot with the registrars, then it’s time to head out with your photographer for an adventure!
Meanwhile, this photoshoot took place within a 20-minute walk from our door… so pack your walking boots and prepare to be amazed.

Ever fancied 'Trashing the Dress'?
Embrace this new tradition by getting down and dirty in the lake. It’s such fun and makes for a very non-traditional way of celebrating your marriage!
