Dogs at Weddings

For Your Wedding Photoshoot

Dogs at Weddings: Ceremony of Photoshoot?

Your dog is more than “just a pet” — they’re family. They’ve been there through your dating days, holidays, and lazy Sundays, and they’ll be there long after the confetti drifts away! It’s no surprise if you can’t imagine your wedding album without a photo of them.

At Cote How, we understand the bond – all of us on the team have loved wonderful dogs over the years. We also understand that bringing your dog to your wedding isn’t right for every dog or owner. Some dogs are just too shy or excitable. Some of you will be more relaxed if your dog stays safely at home with family or friends, with no risk of muddy paws on your wedding outfits!

But, if their presence on your wedding day is important, invite your dog along for a wedding photo shoot, rather than your ceremony.  Why bring your dog just for photos? It’s the perfect compromise for dogs and humans, as we explain in this blog…

1. Dogs tell the whole story

Wedding photos aren’t just about a fabulous dress, designer suit, or stunning flowers. They’re about you and the life (love) you share. A dog is part of your everyday life, so it’s natural to include them in your wedding day photos and “forever” memories.

Dogs have a way of lifting the mood and making everyone smile. A wagging tail or a gentle nuzzle of a hand can capture the love and joy your dog brings you on such an important day – and every day.

They help calm the nerves

Wedding days are full of emotion, and a quick cuddle with your dog after the ceremony is the perfect reset.

Call in the Professionals

Bringing your dog for wedding photos is easier than you think, with a little planning and the right team involved!

A trusted professional dog chaperone (not a guest) will bring your dog after the ceremony and drinks for a photo session, and whisk them away afterwards for a walk (or a snooze!) We work with the amazing team at Dapper Dog Weddings, and our couples would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Our Dog-Friendly Spaces

From our wildflower meadows to the lake views, there’s no shortage of spots where dogs look perfectly at home. Over the years, we’ve met some wonderful four-legged friends, who let’s face it, usually steal the show!

Why not check out our Paws & Promises Wedding Style, or contact the Westmorland Registrar Team for ceremony bookings in the Lake District.
