Winter Weddings at Cote How!

Cote How is beautiful at every time of year. Spring heralds the onset of new life here, with daffodils, bluebells and lambs in abundance. Summer at Cote How is splendid, with the well established grounds in bloom and balmy evenings stretching well into the night. In the autumn, we are treated to a visual display of colour across the surrounding hills and fells, with a burst of orange and russet hues. And winter is a spectacular time to spend time in the Lake District, with cold frosty days, roaring log fires and warming seasonal comfort food.

Cote How is a magical place for a winter wedding. Our historical 16th century venue sets the scene to your perfect day. Guests can gather by candlelight in the sumptous 'Fairfield Room', or assemble beneath the fairy lights of our rustic barn. Whichever you choose, it's hard to tear yourself away from Cote How!

With spring now giving way to summer, it won't be long until winter is - once again - upon us. If you fancy having a winter wedding (or other special celebration) at Cote How, get in touch. We are already getting booked up well into 2016, so don't leave it too late to enquire! Call Caroline on 015394 32765.

Ok, so the Lake District isn't renowned for its balmy temperatures, but rest assured that whatever the time of year, should you choose to celebrate your wedding or special occasion with us, you'll receive the warmest of welcomes!

Whatever the occasion, Cote How offers an exclusive venue small enough for two or big enough for 80. A family run business, Caroline Langham has many years' experience in the wedding and hospitality business and knows exactly what brides want!  You are absolutely assured of the best possible service, with attention to detail and expert planning.  What more could you ask for?

Our charming and romantic, 5 star, grade II listed building offers an historic 16th century Lakeland venue in a prime central Lake District location. Warmth, character and privacy combine to make it a Cumbrian establishment that is absoluetly unrivalled.

The house offers three reception rooms, the bar and main reception area with cosy log fire and sitting area, in addition to the music room/lounge area and the Fairfield function room, which is sunny and bright (even on a dull day) and luxuriously adorned with ornate mirrors and crystal chandeliers.

By contrast, overlooking the picturesque Rydal Water and River Rothay, is our beautifully restored 16th century Lakeland barn with it's rustic charm, outdoor seating and stunning mountian views. The barn is one of only two that are licensed for Civil Ceremonies in the Lake District and is host to parties and weddings both indoors and out, eliminating the requirement of a marquee.  Our very latest addition is a stunning gazebo, which offers a charming space for drinks and photographs, overlooking the fells.

Whatever your dream wedding looks like to you, we'll pull out all the stops to ensure that's exactly what you get!

Gazebo at Cote HowWe have now completed the building of our new gazebo at Cote How and many thanks to all who voted for a new name for our lovely addition!  We are delighted to announce that this is now called 'The Nook'!  This beautiful wooden structure surrounded by fairy lights and flowers is a fantastic addition to any wedding day and has been erected in our courtyard area outside our 16th century barn.

We like to think we're unique at Cote How and want to make your wedding day as special as possible.  The new nook will feature a series of wooden 'photo frames' in which the bride and groom, their families and friends can gather for photographs - very special (and unique) momentoes of your dream day. We are also planning on serving drinks and food in the nook - whatever takes your fancy. It's there to use as you like, for the duration of your time with us!

Our Lakeland barn (and new Nook) overlooks the picturesque Rydal Water and River Rothay and with its rustic charm, outdoor seating and stunning mountian views, is the perfect choice for a very memorable occasion. The barn is one of only two that are licensed for civil ceremonies in the Lake District and is host to parties and weddings both indoors and out.

If you would like to speak to us about holding your special celebration at Cote How, get in touch by calling 015394 32765. We look foward to helping make your celebration magical!

All hands on deck, at Cote How!

Bridal ShootOn Wednesday this week, Cote How was a hive of activity with one of our regular photo shoots underway! Despite the wet and gloomy weather, everyone turned up with a smile and pitched in to make it a fantastic day! Our gorgeous models, Nick Palmer and Gina Rojc, ignored the conditions and were complete professionals.

We have a number of key suppliers to thank, who made such a fantastic contribution to the day: Jo Bradbury of 'Jo Bradbury Wedding Photography' was there to capture everything on camera - we can't wait to see her shots! Teresa Critchlow, of 'Wild Orchid Florist' is the lady to credit for the stunning floral displays, including Gina's magnificent bouquet; Charis Drysdale from 'Daisy Daisy Bridal' in Ulverston gets a well deserved nod for our bridal couple's attire and last, but certainly not least, Zara Rigg was on hand from 'Helen Gee Hairdressing', in Ulverston. Gina's polished look is down to her skills! Many thanks to them all.

We will soon be releasing our new photographs and of one thing we're certain. If you choose to get married in the Lake District, you may need to bring your wellies, but even when the rains come, we still maintain that it's the best place in the world to get hitched. Afterall, the landscape wouldn't be what it is without a few raindrops!

Not only will we attempt to put all your needs first (even the more unusual requests!) to enable your special day to be realised, but you have the option of getting married inside, with our sumptuous surroundings, or tying the knot in our rustic 16th century barn - you can even combine the two environments and there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't!

We know better that anyone that no two celebrations are ever the same, because no two couples are the same! Each and every wedding and special occasion at Cote How is planned meticulously. And, no celebration will ever be too small to be allocated only a corner of our venue - you can have it all!
