I am Caroline and hopefully you and I will get to know each other fairly well over the next weeks, months and sometimes years. And if past experience is anything to go by, we may well be in touch for years to come!
As you may have gleaned by now Steve and I run Cote How Lake District Weddings as our family business, living working and playing here full time. We fell in love with Cote How many years ago and are still finding amazing things about it's history, the people that have lived here over the last 500 years and the importance that Cote How played in the local community.
We have successfully developed Cote How into the unique wedding venue you see today and are pleased to have won our first award this year for Bridebook's UK Barn Venue of the year 2019!
We are blessed that we have old B&B and Tearoom customers who search us out when looking for their perfect venue, and as they already know how special this place is they know they want to be married here. Others find us by simply walking past our gates and staring longingly over the walls, wishing that gorgeous wedding taking place was theirs.
I also hear lots of enchanting tales of romantic proposals by the lake shores of Rydal Water or in Rydal Caves resulting in couples just having to tie the knot here too.
However you find us we are just grateful that you did!
My Journey to Cote How...
I guess not everyone would be qualified to be a wedding planner - So what brought me to this point in my life?
Caroline has had a varied background; training in Fashion Design and Textiles she went on to work fulltime in the clothing industry whilst studying for her IMS management Studies qualification. She then joined Courtaulds Textiles in Manchester as a project Manager and Industrial Engineering Consultant, working all over the UK assisting with management auditing. She continued her studies and gained a DMS in Business Management at Derby University.
THE ENTREPRENEUR IN ME...
Redundancy ensued and Caroline bought her first industrial sewing machine. Going back to her roots of fashion design and textiles Caroline, a highly skilled designer and seamstress, carved out a successful business creating bespoke, made to measure bridalwear to clients from all over the UK from her own Bridal Boutique in Nottingham. Caroline showcased at many major exhibitions and the National Wedding Shows at the NEC in Birmingham where brides came from all over the country to meet her and access her exclusive design skills. From her Nottingham base Caroline also retailed other designers' gowns and accessories, and ran an online ECommerce business retailing accessories and hand made veils.
Caroline relocated to Cote How in 2006 with her young family, and developed the existing bed and breakfast business to a world renowned Organic Guest House with Soil Association license and was featured in several publications such as the Lonely Plant and Green traveller to name a few.
ECO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
She was a founder member of Cumbria Green Business Forum and often acted as ambassador to other businesses throughout Cumbria.
In 2013 Caroline realised her ultimate dream which saw Cote How evolve into the exclusive wedding venue it is today. Caroline's flair for design and attention to detail saw Cote How grow and is now one of the Lake Districts most exclusive small wedding venues. Cote How occupies a natural gem of a location right in the heart of the English Lake District and oozes Lakeland charm.
