I am Caroline, Owner and wedding planner here at Cote How. Together with my partner Steve we welcome you to Cote How which is both our home and our family business.
We fell in love with Cote How many years ago and are still finding amazing things about it's history, the people who lived here the last 500 years, and hopefully we can share some of its amazing warmth with you as we continue along our journey.
We have successfully developed Cote How into the unique wedding venue you see today and are pleased to have won our first award this year for Bridebook's UK Barn Venue of the year 2019!
We are blessed that we have met lots of wonderful people since starting Cote How as a B&B and Tearoom in 2006. We are amazed by how many of our wedding couples have already met us and know Cote How from our tearoom where they reminisce over their time spent here enjoying their tea and cake. Our location is undoubtedly stunning and we are so lucky to occupy such a fabulous location right in the middle of the Lakes and central to many stunning and popular walks.
The Lake District is one of the most romantic destinations in the UK and we hear lots of enchanting tales of romantic proposals by Rydal Water... before stumbling across us en-route home - Perfect!
However you found us we are grateful that you did, so thank you!
I have a varied background; a blend of creative, logic and corporate all rolled into one, and I guess this wealth of experience has helped mold me into who I am today.
Each and every thing I have done has been a great pleasure and taught me lots of skills along the way!
I left school and trained in Fashion Design and Textiles, then working full time in the clothing industry whilst continuing my studies eventually gaining my IMS certificate and diploma in management services. I then joined Courtaulds Textiles HQ as a project Manager and Industrial Engineer, working all over the UK assisting with business auditing, whilst continuing my studies to gain a DMS in Business Management at Derby University.
A few years later I decided to branch into self employment and opened my bridal boutique creating bespoke, made to measure bridal-wear. I showcased at major exhibitions including the National Wedding Shows at the NEC meeting brides from all over the country who would make special journeys to Nottingham to benefit from my bespoke service. I also retailed other designers' gowns and accessories, and founded an online ECommerce business retailing accessories and hand made veils.
After relocating to Cote How in 2006 I developed the existing bed and breakfast business to a world renowned Organic Guest House and Tearoom and achieved a 5 star green tourism award year on year plus a Soil Association organic license and was featured in several publications such as the Lonely Plant and Green Traveler to name a few. Organics and taking responsibility for our planet are always high on the agenda here at Cote How, and we remain as ethical as possible and always strive to minimise our environmental impact.
In 2013 I realised my ultimate dream when Cote How gained it's first wedding license and began evolving into one of the Lake District's most exclusive small wedding venues.
Cote How occupies a natural gem of a location right in the heart of the English Lake District and oozes Lakeland charm.
Cote How is as far from corporate as it is possible, and staying true to it's Lakeland heritage we focus on attention to detail and sublime customer service, creating perfect weddings, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
