UK Barn Wedding Venue of the Year

What the award means to us

The award recognised our dedication to providing our wedding couples with the best possible wedding experience. It was the first time we had entered, and as a tiny independent venue, it’s thrilling to be recognised!
The award is a celebration of all our weddings since we began in 2013/4. We are proud to bring our small business to a broader audience through this achievement. It also sends a message to small companies that, with determination, we can offer couples an unforgettable wedding experience.
We are ever grateful to our couples, friends, family and loyal suppliers who continue to support Cote How.

About Cote How

Once a Roman lookout post overlooking the Rydal Valley, Cote How is a family-owned wedding venue in the heart of Wordsworth’s Lake District.

Cote How is an exclusive destination wedding venue. We deliver the best in bespoke weddings, civil marriages, civil partnerships and humanist celebrations. Every wedding enjoys our full attention. We guarantee privacy, flexibility and exclusivity of our 16th-century house and barn. Our acres of gardens and wildflower meadow leading to the shores of Rydal Water offer unparalleled natural beauty. It’s the perfect location for wedding photography, with breathtaking scenery. Furthermore, the River Rothay, with its pretty wooden footbridge, leads to Rydal Church just 300m away.

We specialise in intimate weddings for 2-24 guests, offering a variety of ceremony locations. These include our award-winning rustic barn, elegantly styled Wordsworth Room, and light-filled Fairfield Room. Ceremonies are conducted by the Westmorland and Furness Registrar Team or occasionally by Celebrants.
