February 2014 - Five stars for Lake District’s only environmental Gold award Bed and Breakfast

5-Star

Recently refurbished, Cote How Lakeland venue has joined an elite group of Cumbrian 5 Star Visit Britain graded bed and breakfast businesses. What is more, Cote How is unique in being the only 'Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award' holder in Cumbria, to have achieved this impressive status.

The Visit Britain grading proves that a business does not have to compromise its environmental principles to achieve the highest quality levels for customers. With its spectacular location in Rydal, at the heart of the lakes, caring for the environment is central to the ethos of Cote How.

Owner Caroline Langham is delighted with her award:

“This is a wonderful achievement and the result of a great deal of hard work.  I’m so pleased that we can now prove that a luxury holiday experience does not have to be at the compromise of any environmental impact.  The next goal is the 5 Star Visit Britain Gold award!”

The GTBS award considers the environmental impact of a hospitality business, with criteria assessing use of local suppliers, ethical sourcing and use of products which are low carbon and reduce environmental impact. As a Gold Award holder, Cote How has already achieved the highest industry recognition.  Gaining a 5 star grading further positions Cote How as a business committed to providing exceptional levels of customer experience.

November 2013 - Cote How retains Gold AWARD – Green Tourism Business Scheme

Green Tourism Business Scheme England GOLD AWARD

Cote How was the first tourism business in the entire North West of England to achieve this award in 2007, scoring a massive 96% on their Environmental Management Audit. Sustainability and green issues are now very much mainstream, with governments, businesses and individuals all involved.

Tourism, as one of the main economic drivers in the UK, has its part to play. That is where the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) comes in. In 2011, Cote How was awarded a Green Tourism Business scheme gold star award. Presented by Tony Jupiter and sponsored by Beacon Purchasing, the award was presented at a ceremony in London, as a celebration of Green Tourism
